Garrison Lions Club to hold Soup Supper Saturday from 5-7
The Garrison Lions Club will be hosting its first-ever Soup Supper to raise money for the various projects throughout the year.The supper will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020, from 5 PM – 7 PM at the Garrison Fire Department. The Fire Department is located at 205 S. Sycamore Ave. Garrison.There will be chili, chicken noodle, potato, and cheesy broccoli soup.

Vinton's American Legion to hold Tenderloin Dinner
American Legion George G Luckey Post 57 will hold a Tenderloin Dinner on Thursday, February 27 from 5-7 p.m.The cost is $8.00, for a 6 oz Tenderloin on a Kaiser Bun, with French Fries, Coleslaw and a Dessert.The Legion is located at 105 R Ave. in Vinton.

Vinton Kiwanis Pancake Day will be held on Saturday, March 7. Beginning at 7:00 a.m. and running until 12:00 p.m. at the Vinton High School, tickets are $6.00 in advance and $7.00 at the door. (Pre-school are free!)

Pourville to hold Double Feature Event, Saturday, February 22
On Saturday, February 22, Pourville will be the site for a Double Feature event.Beginning at 12 noon, the search for the best tasting Mac and Cheese will begin. Bring your best dish for sampling. You will be competing against everyone else who thinks that THEY have the best Mac and Cheese! There will be a $15 entry fee, with 100% Cash Payback for the top 3 contenders.

The Mid-Iowa Council of the Boy Scouts of America will bring
together central Iowa’s advanced manufacturing sector and government leaders in a first-of-its-kind
effort to expand ways to prepare more Iowa youth for careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and
Mathematics-related job fields.
On March 3, The Mid-Iowa Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the nation’s foremost youth program
of character development and values-based leadership training, will present an inaugural STEM-based
education and employment summit, “Workforce Development in Iowa - Bridging the Career Awareness
Gap.

V-S High School to Host 2020 District Individual Speech Contest Seeks Assistance
On Saturday, February 29, Vinton-Shellsburg High School will be hosting the 2020 District Individual Speech Contest. Approximately 30 schools and hundreds of students and family members will be in attending this wonderful event that will allow us to showcase our school, our community, and the amazing talents of our students.
